It’s Christmas time again

It’s strange how I’ve been painfully striking off the days on my office calendar yet at the same time the days seem to fly by so fast. Before I know it, Christmas has come and gone (almost). This Christmas hasn’t been the most joyous one for me mainly due to my job but I’m optimistic that things will get better in the new year. 2010 is almost over and I feel determined to make a few changes to my life next year. I think it’s high time for me to really get down to setting some goals for myself and accomplishing something for once.

I just want to take this opportunity to thank my friends and Ms Niyo for putting up with my job rants and for supporting my decision to leave my job, both previous and current. You’ve no idea how important the support you girls give is to me. Let’s pray hard that I’ll have no more of such complains next year!

Here’s to a better and more fruitful 2011 ahead!

New look in the new year

Happy New Year to all! I’m sorry for not updating in a while but really, I’ve been rather busy since I came back from Taiwan. Speaking of Taiwan, I’m afraid the photos would have to wait as I have a whopping 600+ of those to edit. Yes I know, that’s A LOT for a seven day trip. After visiting Taiwan, I have to say it’s truly a fantastic country to visit. One month on and I’m still having withdrawal symptoms. The weather, the food, the people… I miss them all! I’ll be back with my trip report very soon.

Anyway, I’ve been busy this Chinese New Year doing the spring cleaning and of course, giving my bedroom walls a new coat of paint. This year I managed to persuade my sis to paint the room and we did it together with the help of our mum.

Ready to roll – cans of paint and painting tools

Before – The mess before the painting work began

Before – Empty shelves and messy desk

We took one whole Saturday to complete the painting and let me tell you, it was hard work. I had two revelations at the end of the day:

  1. Don’t paint dark colours. You’ll find yourself having to do extra work by giving your walls a lighter base coat before you can put on the finishing coat.
  2. I’m not getting any younger. The one-day painting session zapped out all my energy. My whole body ached like nobody’s business the next day and mind you, we didn’t even paint the ceiling. *shudders*

After – Bye bye purple room, hello pink room

After – All items back to their original places

After painting the bedroom, I guess we won’t be doing any more painting in the near future. Hehe. Still, I’m glad we did it this year and I’m actually quite pleased with the outcome.

This year’s CNY holiday is a little short as I have to return to work tomorrow. Honestly, I’m so miffed by this. I think I’m going to apply leave next Monday just for the heck of it.

Before I go, here’s wishing everyone a happy new year and hope the year of the Ox will bring us more luck and prosperity. Huat ah!

Four days to Christmas

Christmas is just four days away. And 2008 will be over in less than two weeks. I know I’ve said this before but I’m going to say it again – time really flies! I always feel a wee bit sad during this time of the year because after the festivities, there’ll be nothing left to look forward to.

Having said that, I’ve been striking out the dates on my office calendar and I’ve been counting down to January since September. I’ll start to look for a job actively in January and hopefully I’ll be able to find something by April. Hopefully.

Anyway, I’m long done with my Christmas shopping and my Christmas “projects” for the girls. I hope they’ll like my gifts for them. Hahaha.

Can’t wait for the gift exchange on Tuesday!
